Check your data for the review

Learn how to verify and prepare your employee data in Figures for an accurate compensation review, including key data points and settings.

Updated today

A successful compensation review relies heavily on the accuracy and completeness of your employee data. This article guides you through the crucial Data Check step in Figures, ensuring all necessary information is in place before launching your campaign.

Manager assignments

By default, we assign reviews to managers in hierarchical order. If this is your process, we’ll need your full managerial hierarchy to assign reviewers correctly.

Fixing missing managers

Not everyone in a company has a manager, and that’s fine. For example, the CEO typically won’t have a manager.

If you have an active integration between your HRIS and Figures

First, check your HRIS to ensure every employee has a designated manager. Once confirmed, sync the data with Figures via the Data & Integrations tab to import and integrate the updated hierarchy.

If you don’t have an active integration

If your system isn’t integrated with an HRIS, manual updates are required.

  1. Create a spreadsheet listing each employee and their manager, ensuring accuracy as this data forms the basis of your organizational structure in Figures. Manager permissions depend on it.

  2. Once the spreadsheet is ready, import the data into Figures. For help with this, contact our support team via Intercom, as there’s no customer-facing solution available yet.

Performance ratings

Performance ratings are key to differentiating employee contributions. While optional, integrating them into your compensation review provides managers with nuanced recommendations, ensuring raises and bonuses are fairly allocated based on each employee's efforts and achievements.

Importing performance ratings into Figures

To enrich your compensation review with performance data, Figures provides two methods for importing performance ratings:

Culture Amp integration

Navigate to Data & Integrations and connect to Culture Amp for automatic import of performance ratings. This integration ensures your compensation review uses the latest performance assessments.

Spreadsheet import

Upload a spreadsheet with employee performance ratings. Figures adapts to your performance scale. To import, go to Data & Integrations and select Import a spreadsheet. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

Variable pay

If your company adjusts variable pay during compensation reviews, it’s important to ensure Figures has the latest variable pay data for all employees.

For integrated systems

If your HRIS is integrated with Figures, verify that the latest variable pay data has synced correctly. Ensure any recent updates to variable pay components are captured before syncing with Figures.

For manual updates

If your system isn’t integrated or you prefer manual updates, upload a spreadsheet with the variable pay details for each employee.

Salary bands

Accurate salary band assignments are crucial for making informed compensation decisions, especially for recommendations based on range minimums and maximums.

Checking salary nands

  1. Review the number of employees assigned to salary ranges.

  2. Click Preview a subset of employees with their salary ranges to spot-check assignments.

Ensure all employees are assigned to the correct salary range before proceeding.

Currencies

Setting exchange rates

If your company uses custom exchange rates:

  1. Find the Currencies section at the bottom of the Data Check page.

  2. Enter your company's fixed exchange rates for each relevant currency.

  3. These rates will be used throughout the compensation review process.
