Guide to choosing reviewers in your compensation review process, including setting numbers, reassignments, and final reviewer roles.

Updated over a week ago

The Reviewers page in Figures is crucial for assigning and managing reviewers for each employee in your compensation review process. This article guides you through setting up reviewers and understanding their roles.

Role and responsibilities of reviewers

A reviewer is responsible for evaluating an employee’s compensation details. The first reviewer suggests the initial raise and can add comments. Subsequent reviewers can review and modify these suggestions. The process continues up the hierarchical chain until the last reviewer.

Access requirement for reviewers
All reviewers must have access to Figures to complete their reviews.
The Compensation Review configuration process includes a dedicated step to ensure this.

Setting up the review model

Number of Reviewers

By default, two reviewers are assigned to each employee - their direct manager and the manager's manager. You can customize this number to fit your organization's needs:

  1. Click on the 'Number of Reviewers'

  2. Select or enter the desired number of reviewers.

  3. The system updates the reviewers based on the company's hierarchy.

Final Reviewer

Optionally, you can designate a final reviewer, like the CEO, who will have the conclusive say on all reviews. To set this up:

  1. Choose the individual from the "Final reviewer" dropdown list

  2. This reviewer will oversee and finalize the entire compensation review process.

Viewing and managing reviewers

Figures provides two main views for managing reviewer assignments:

  • By employee: Shows the reviewer chain for each employee.

  • By reviewer: Displays all reviews assigned to each reviewer.

To reassign reviewers, select the employee or reviews and click "Reassign." You can modify assignments for individual employees or perform bulk reassignments when viewing by reviewer.

When reassigning, you have two options:

  • Automatic hierarchy: Figures populates reviewers based on the company structure.

  • Manual selection: Turn off automatic hierarchy to customize the entire reviewer chain.

This flexibility allows you to create review paths that fit your organization's needs, whether following standard hierarchy or creating custom workflows for specific situations.

Handling reviewer unavailability

If a reviewer is unavailable, higher-level reviewers can take over the review process. This ensures continuity and timely completion of the compensation review.
