To accurately compare and analyze salaries, you need to map your employees to their corresponding Figures jobs. This is done during the onboarding process, after mapping levels and locations.

Reviewing Job Mapping Suggestions 🔍

During the onboarding process, Figures will provide job mapping suggestions for your employees. Review these suggestions and uncheck the checkbox for any you disagree with. Jobs that remain checked will automatically be mapped to the suggested Figures job, while unchecked jobs will need to be manually mapped in the next step.

Manual Job Mapping 📋

After reviewing the suggestions, you'll move on to the manual job mapping step. Here, you'll manually map the unchecked jobs to their appropriate Figures jobs.

Individual Contributor vs. Manager ⚖️

Most Figures jobs can be assigned to Individual Contributors and Managers alike. The differentiation comes from assigning either an individual contributor level or a manager level. There are some exceptions, such as Data Manager, Engineering Manager, and Sales Manager, which should only be combined with manager levels on Figures. The definitions for each job will help you make the right choice.

Mapping Managers 👩‍💼

If a manager oversees a team of employees with the same job, map them as a manager for that specific job. For instance, someone managing only talent acquisition specialists should be mapped to Talent Acquisition Specialist at the appropriate manager level.

If a manager is responsible for a team with different roles, map them as a generalist manager. For example, someone managing various people functions should be mapped to the generalist Figures job of HR Manager, combined with the respective manager level.

Mapping C-Level Employees 👩‍💼

C-Level positions should be mapped by combining a Figures job with the respective C-Level. For example, a CFO would be a Finance Manager at C-Level, and a CPO would be a Product Manager at C-Level. The differentiation per Figures job is done with the help of the levels you choose. Exceptions include CEO, COO, and CRO roles, which are listed specifically.

Handling Students, Interns, or Freelancers 🎓

If you've imported students, interns, or freelancers, please skip mapping these individuals, as Figures doesn't currently support mapping and comparing these roles.

Can't Find the Correct Figures Job? 🤷‍♀️

If our list of job profiles does not offer the right equivalent you’re looking for, you can leave it unmapped and make a new job request.

We review requests regularly, but as we only want to create relevant jobs (i.e. jobs for which we will be able to provide market data), the two following criteria must be met:
- We’re confident we’ll be able to map at least 50 employees coming from at least 3 distinct companies.
- The job is specific enough so that we compare similar employees (similar missions & skills).

If we decide to create a new job you have requested, your CSM will get back to you with the good news! Keep in mind though: it may take some time for us to gather the right amount of data that will allow us to create the job.
