Match the levels your employees are working from to Figures locations.

Why carefully mapping your employees is crucial : reminder.

In order to map of levels on Figures, we defined a leveling framework of our own. A detailed description including definitions per level can be found in the corresponding blog post on our website. The resources are open source and thus free for everyone to use and build upon.

Please note☝️: As you can see in the mentioned blog post on leveling, we opted for a simple and an advanced leveling frame work. The simple leveling framework is available by default. For the advanced framework, please reach out so we can activate it for you.

You DO have a leveling structure

To map your levels to the Figures equivalents, please choose the correct level from our dropdown menu on the mapping tab, then click Save.

Always be sure to base your mapping choice on the definitions per level that we provide rather than on the name of the level alone.

Leveling grids differ ☝️

Please bear in mind that your own leveling grid may differ from ours. Maybe you have more levels or less, or you use them differently. Thus, please map according to the definition for each level rather than the name.

Good examples are manager or lead, both of which we've seen our clients use for individual contributors and managers alike. We advise to look at the level hints when deciding how to map.


You DON'T have a leveling structure in place

Once you’re done mapping the locations and jobs on the mapping tab, please switch to the Imported employees tab to map your levels. Here, you will have to define the level of each employee by clicking n each row.

Individual Contributor levels (Beginner to Principal)

Individual contributor levels are defined as levels for, well, individual contributors. They should thus be assigned to everyone not managing other employees.

Manager levels (Team Lead to C-Level)

Manager levels are defined as levels for employees that manage other employees (teams, departments, business units) in their organization. They should therefore only be assigned to employees carrying that kind of responsibility.

🤔 What about students, interns or freelancers?

If you have imported students, interns or freelancers, please skip these as we don't have the means to map and compare them on Figures. Furthermore, salaries of the mentioned types of staff members are usually very different from those of permanent full-time employees. Thus, mapping them to our regular mapping grid composed of jobs, locations and levels would distort the benchmarks we offer.
