Should I include interns, working students or freelancers in the dataset?
For now, we don’t integrate interns, working students, freelancers etc. into our dataset. In general, the focus is on full-time employees and their annual salaries.
What if students, interns, freelancers or interim employees have been imported?
Students, interns & freelancers
Students, interns, and freelancers should be skipped in mapping, as Figures does not support comparing them.
If your HRIS integration tracks occupation types, these roles will automatically appear as "skipped" in your Employee Data tab. Students and interns can be mapped later if they transition to full-time roles, but freelancers will remain skipped.
Interim employees
Full-time employees temporarily doing an interim role can remain on Figures, mapped to their current compensated position. However, employees with actual interim contracts should be excluded, as their higher salary due to short-term contracts doesn't align with regular employee comparisons.
What should I do for part-time employees?
If you want to benchmark part-time employees, convert them to full-time equivalents (FTE) on Figures. Ensure your HRIS is integrated, with a field for FTE values.
With an HRIS:
Go to Data & Integrations
In Standard Fields > Full Time Equivalent, make sure the default field from your HRIS is retrieved. If not, click on Configure, and choose the corresponding field you use in your HRIS.
Without HRIS:
Go to Data & Integrations > Spreadsheet
Partial Employee Data Update > Generate a spreadsheet for me > Optional columns, select "FTE" > Edit in Figures > Confirm
